The primary function of the Associate Manager, Ticketing Services and Group Sales is to act as the enthusiastic front-facing lead representative of KCRep’s Ticketing Services team through phone, digital, and face-to-face patron interactions. The Associate Manager, Ticketing Services and Group Sales will assist with managerial functions on an as-needed basis, including the efficient scheduling and training of the Ticketing Services team, management of other revenue-driven ticketing programs, and modeling and delivering the highest customer service standards. They will also lead group sales initiatives, aiming to meet revenue goals, and strategizing on growth opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ticketing Services
• Assist the Manager of Ticketing Services in overseeing part-time Ticketing Services staff.
• Collaborate with Manger of Ticketing Services in oversight of functions and processes of the Ticketing Services department.
• Act as “Manager on Duty” for select performances days/times.
• Support the Manager of Ticketing Services in training all new hires in the Ticketing Services team.
• Collaborate with the Ticket Services department to ensure consistent messaging regarding company events.
• Address incoming calls, assist walk-up customers, respond to emails, and handle traditional mail.
• Sell, exchange, and process returns to single, seasonal, and group tickets for all performances, focusing on upselling as part of the revenue-generating team.
• Provide concierge support during season subscription campaign as needed.
• Stay updated on subscription and group packages, options, and benefits.
• Adhere to proper procedures for handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Familiarize yourself with season productions by reading scripts and attending at least one dress rehearsal or preview performance for each production, to enhance sales efforts.
• Maintain accurate patron records by cleaning up entries and updating names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails.
• Maintain organization within the Ticketing Services department materials, ensuring the phone room and box office locations are tidy and free from clutter.

Group Sales
• Oversee the group sales program.
• Enhance revenue opportunities for A Christmas Carol and the regular season of performances.
• Organize party receptions and conduct backstage tours.
• Drive revenue through both existing and new group sales initiatives to meet established sales goals.
• Collaborate with external community groups and organizations for promotional and artistic partnerships.
• Handle community ticket donation requests, ensuring timely fulfillment and accurate record-keeping of voucher usage.
• Administer the Employer Share Program, The Drop, Teen Tix, Vet Tix, and any additional external  ticket partner programs that arise and provide prompt and precise invoicing.
• Manage community partnership programs, developing and maintaining best standards and processes using Tessitura.

Reporting and Administrative
• Collaborate with the Manager of Ticketing Services to develop documentation for best practices for Tessitura regarding various ticketing initiatives, including gift vouchers, promotions, exchanges, and more.
• Develop, update, and modify group sales reports as organizational requirements evolve.
• Analyze data and assist in shaping the group sales and pricing strategy.
• Collaborate with the internal Tessitura leadership team to uphold best practices and data integrity policies for accurate KCRep information.
• Assemble ticket orders and promotional materials for distribution.
• Participate in scheduled training sessions, company meetings, and other events as feasible.
• Promote and support KCRep’s mission, vision, and values, showing a commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-racism (IDEA) principles.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
• Commitment to the highest standards of customer service
• Technology savvy and interested in learning new software
• Experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook; knowledge of Tessitura ticketing software a plus
• Must have excellent verbal and telephone etiquette, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Event management experience preferred
• Experience in ticketing preferred, background in performing arts and/or non-profit organizations a plus

Compensation
• In addition to current regular base salary in the range of $31,000-$38,000, the Associate Manager, Ticketing Services and Group Sales will earn a commission for the group sales they organize.
• Full time salary position includes comprehensive benefit package including but not limited to health, dental, vision, and retirement savings plans as well as generous company paid holidays and PTO policy. This position is non-exempt and requires the working of some evenings and weekends.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Stage Carpenter is responsible for the construction, installation, and strike of scenery for all KCRep productions, as well as maintenance, support and communication through show runs. This position involves collaboration with the technical team and requires advanced carpentry skills, adherence to safety practices, and the ability to adapt to evolving production needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build and install scenic elements using traditional and advanced theatrical construction techniques
• Work with materials such as wood, metal, and plastics; operate a variety of tools and equipment safely
• Support rigging, soft goods installation, and on-site assembly as required
• Participate in load-ins and strikes for KCRep productions and events
• Follow technical drawings and collaborate with Technical Director, ATD, and Head Carpenter
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
• Use proper PPE and ensure adherence to shop safety protocols

PRODUCTION RUN AND DECK MANAGEMENT DUTIES
• Arrive 15 minutes prior to call to unlock all necessary areas:
– Green Room
– Dressing Rooms
– Theatre
– Trap Room (as needed)
• Coordinate backstage crew assignments in partnership with the Assistant Stage Manager (ASM)
• Oversee deck operations in collaboration with the ASM
• Set up and break down tech tables
• Manage theatre lighting before and after rehearsals and performances, including ghost light usage
• Assist lighting and sound departments with deck-related needs
• Act as liaison between stage management and the scene shop
• Install backstage carpeting where required
• Set up quick-change areas as needed
• Establish and maintain mopping schedule (including waxed/non-waxed floor procedures)
• Supervise rail operations, ensuring safe and efficient use
• Ensure a safe and hazard-free deck and props environment for cast and crew

MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Props Maintenance:
– Monitor and maintain weapon props
– Address broken or damaged props during the run
– Replace batteries for battery-operated props (including A Christmas Carol [ACC])
– Refill and inspect air tanks and water tanks
• Scenic Maintenance:
– Perform paint touch-ups as needed
– Monitor and reset scenic traps

QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working in professional theatrical scene shops or a related setting
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and executing carpentry plans

JOB OVERVIEW

The Materials Coordinator / Carpenter is responsible for the purchasing of materials and supplies for the scene shop, prop shop, and scenic art department; and vehicle maintenance and upkeep. The Materials Coordinator also assists with the building, load-in, and strike of all scenery for KCRep productions using a variety of methods and materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Process shop orders and requests accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
• Maintain inventory of stock items and materials, ensuring safe and appropriate storage
• Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE); restock safety supplies as needed
• Manage shipment and receipt of packages for KCRep staff, cast, and designers
• Assist in scenic construction, including traditional theatrical building techniques, metal work, and welding
• Participate in the construction, load-ins, and strikes for productions and special events
• Coordinate scenic transportation between the shop and various locations in Kansas City
• Oversee KCRep vehicle operations, including reservations and routine maintenance; coordinate payments and vendor interactions with KCRep and UMKC Conservatory

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Scenic Art Director, the Assistant Scenic Artist is responsible for assisting in the painting of all scenic elements and maintaining all paint areas. The Scenic Artist will work both independently and collaboratively with the Scenic Art Director, overhire scenic artists, and scene shop staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Apply paint using a variety of scenic painting techniques, based on renderings and the Scenic Art Director’s guidance
• Assist in preparing touch-up kits
• Maintain consistent quality and attention to detail
• Keep the paint shop and work environment clean and safe
• Properly handle, use, and dispose of all paint materials
• Support paint shop operations in the absence of the Scenic Art Director

QUALIFICATIONS
• Prior experience as a Scenic Artist or Assistant Charge at a professional theatre

Audio Engineer

The company produces a subscription season of four shows, plus annual special presentations like A Christmas Carol and a community tour in the spring. Our main performance spaces are Spencer Theatre, a 550-seat thrust stage, and Copaken Stage, a 319-seat LORT D space in downtown KC.
JOB OVERVIEW The Production Audio Engineer is responsible for the load-in, strike, board operation, and system maintenance for KC Rep productions as assigned by the Audio Supervisor. This position requires knowledge of rigging, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments. Recording experience is a plus. The role requires availability for evenings and weekends during tech and performance periods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Read, interpret, and build from designer drawings as assigned by the Audio Supervisor.
• Operate and maintain sound equipment, including Q-Lab, digital consoles, communication systems, and video systems.
• Troubleshoot audio programs, perform speaker checks, and maintain sound equipment after show openings.
• Participate in all load-ins, strikes, tech rehearsals, and previews.
• Work in a safe, efficient, and organized manner.
• Ensure proper system maintenance, repair, and cleanup as needed.
• Comply with KC Rep’s policies and procedures and demonstrate commitment to the theatre’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism) work.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Audio Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Theatre or related field, or equivalent sound-related experience.
• Understanding of basic theatre components, including scenery, lighting, and projections.
• Familiarity with Q-Lab, rigging, soldering, current DSP systems, and digital audio consoles.
• Strong troubleshooting and sound signal flow knowledge.
• Experience with wireless microphones and com systems.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and work at heights.

JOB OVERVIEW:
Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep), the city’s largest professional / regional LORT theatre is in search of talented and friendly individuals to staff our multi-venue Box Office. Production Overhires

KCRep is looking for skilled trades and craftspeople to hire on a project/hourly basis for our 23-24 season. Assistant and Associate Directors

KCRep is seeking local candidates for Assistant and Associate Director positions. Applicants must reside in or have housing within Kansas City, MO, or Kansas City, KS, as travel and housing accommodations will not be provided. Associate Director

The Associate Director position provides hands-on experience in both directing and the overall production process. The Associate Director will have various responsibilities based on their experience level and the needs of the production and director.

Responsibilities of the Associate Director:

Pre-Production Duties:

  • Meet with the director early in the process to discuss:
    • Production overview
    • Goals and approach to the production
    • The director’s expectations for the Associate Director’s responsibilities
    • Collaboration between the Associate Director and Stage Manager
  • Study the play and discuss interpretation and production concepts with the director, playwright (if applicable), and dramaturg (when relevant).
  • Attend pre-production design meetings if invited by the director.
  • Assist with auditions by taking notes and tracking casting options.
  • Conduct research as requested, including historical context, playwright biography, and relevant criticism.

Duties During Rehearsals:

  • Attend rehearsals as agreed upon with the director.
  • Take notes and communicate regularly with the director about production progress.
  • Support the director in realizing the play onstage, requiring a deep understanding of the play, characters, and setting.
  • Attend design meetings as agreed upon.
  • Maintain an up-to-date copy of the script and rehearsal schedule.
  • Attend and manage special rehearsals, such as line-throughs or speed-throughs with understudies.
  • Stand in for absent actors as needed.
  • Occasionally assist with errands as assigned.
  • Attend tech and dress rehearsals, as well as previews, and take notes as requested by the director.

Compensation:

  • Associate Director: $1,500.

Assistant Director

The Assistant Director position is designed for individuals eager to observe and gain a deeper understanding of a director’s process. This role provides a unique opportunity to learn from an experienced director by closely watching their approach to storytelling, collaboration, and leadership throughout the production. The Assistant Director will develop insight into the creative and logistical aspects of directing by studying the rehearsal process, observing artistic decisions, and engaging with the creative team in a supportive capacity.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Director:

Pre-Production Duties:

  • Meet with the director to discuss the overall vision for the production and the Assistant Director’s role as an observer.
  • Read and study the script to understand the production concept and director’s approach.
  • Attend pre-production design and planning meetings as invited by the director.
  • Observe and assist during auditions by taking notes and tracking casting options.
  • Conduct research as requested to support the director’s vision.

Duties During Rehearsals:

  • Attend rehearsals as scheduled and observe the director’s process.
  • Take detailed notes on the director’s approach, staging, and communication with actors and designers.
  • Observe interactions between the director and the creative team to gain insight into collaboration within the production process.
  • Support rehearsal needs as assigned, helping with line-throughs, or assisting with minor administrative tasks.
  • Attend tech and dress rehearsals, as well as previews, to continue observing the evolution of the production.

Compensation:

  • Assistant Director: $500 (responsibilities and expectations will be determined based on the candidate’s experience level, time commitment, and production needs).

Patron Services

REPORTS TO: Manager, Front of House
JOB TYPE: Up to 20 hours/week
HOURLY RATE: Starting at $12.30/hour

JOB OVERVIEW:
Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep), the city’s largest professional / regional LORT theatre is in search of talented and friendly individuals to join our multi-venue front of house team. The primary function of the patron services representative is to serve as a front-line ambassador for KCRep, greeting and assisting patrons with lobby functions and seating and while supporting and uplifting KCRep’s mission, vision, and values, and demonstrate a dedication to the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-racism (IDEA) work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Front of House & Patron Services

Provide excellent customer service in all patron interactions.
Prepare the lobby for patrons to arrive each evening and for intermission.
Great and assist patrons with seating and resolve any seat issues in the process.
Provide additional assistance to volunteers as needed.
Provide additional assistance for extra events.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Attend training sessions as scheduled, company meetings and other functions as possible.

Qualifications:
Commitment to the highest standards of customer service
Must have excellent verbal, communication and interpersonal skills
Background in performing arts and/or non-profit organizations a plus
Able to lift up to 25 – 50 lbs. as needed Some evening and weekend availability required.
