Scenic Art Director

The Scenic Art Director is responsible for the painting of all scenic elements. In collaboration with the Scenic Designer, the Scenic Art Director will evaluate designs, techniques, and treatments to accurately translate the designers paint elevations onto completed set pieces. Working alongside the Technical Director and the Head Carpenter, the Scenic Art Director will plan and build a schedule of when scenery will get treated and what is needed to complete the build on time and in an efficient manner.

Carpenter

The Carpenter is responsible for the construction, installation (load-in), and strike of all scenery for KCRep productions, utilizing a variety of methods and materials. This role requires technical skills, the ability to interpret design and technical drawings, and a commitment to safety and quality craftsmanship. The Carpenter will work both independently and collaboratively within the scenic department.

Production Electrician-Board Op

The Production Electrician assists the Head Electrician with the hanging, focusing, and programming of lighting equipment used for each KCRep production. The Electrician will also assist in maintain shows, repair, and maintenance of equipment, and general clean up. This position will also assist the Lighting and Video Supervisor and Master Electrician to ensure that all projection elements for shows are in accordance with Projection Designer specks, maintain equipment, troubleshoot, and install gear for each KCRep production. The Production Electrician will also be the lighting board operator for most of KCRep productions.

Head Audio Engineer 

The Head Audio Engineer is responsible for the load-in, strike, live mixing, board operation, and system maintenance of KC Rep productions and special events as assigned by the Sound & Technology Director.  This person must have previous recording experience, rigging knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively.  This position does require weekend and evening hours when a show is in tech or performance periods. 

Assistant Production Manager 

The Assistant Production Manager (APM) will assist the Production Manager with all elements of production in the subscription season, as well as new play development and any additional offerings throughout the season.  In coordination with the Production Manager, the APM will manage the design, budgeting, and production processes for all KCRep productions and special events.  Additionally, this person will help lead the Production department’s efforts to integrate our organization’s values and IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism) work. 

Properties Artisan

The Properties Artisan must have well developed technical skills and be knowledgeable about materials and techniques. This person must also have experience with manipulating materials and objects to process requests from the director / designers. The Properties Artisan will build and create props as assigned by the Properties Director. This person must be able to work collaboratively and independently. Typically, KCRep produces musicals, new works, and classics. The props department consists of three people and is exceptionally collaborative, thoughtful, and passionate about theatre and the field of props.

Head Carpenter

The Head Carpenter is a member of the scene shop staff and is responsible for the construction, installation, and strike of scenic elements for all KCRep Productions and special events while using a variety of methods and materials. This person will assist the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director with planning each load-in and strike process, coordinating labor needs and timeline. The Head Carpenter is also responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining work schedules in conjunction with the Technical Director.

Scenic Artist

Under the direction of the Scenic Art Director, the Scenic Artist is responsible for assisting in the painting of all scenic elements and maintaining all paint areas.  The Scenic Artist will work both independently and in collaboration with the Scenic Art Director, overhire scenic artists, and scene shop staff. 

Materials Coordinator / Carpenter 

The Materials Coordinator / Carpenter is responsible for the purchasing of materials and supplies for the scene shop, prop shop, and scenic art department; and vehicle maintenance and upkeep. The Materials Coordinator will assist in the building, load-in, and strike of all scenery for KCRep productions using a variety of methods and materials.

Sound & Technology Director

The Sound & Technology Director is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend hours required. This position requires someone who is a strong manager, knowledgeable about theatrical sound & technology, and genuinely interested in creative problem solving. The Sound & Technology Director will build relationships with designers and guest artists; vendors; production, artistic, and administrative staff. Candidates should have experience planning and executing sound related elements for theatre; practical knowledge of multi-track recording, sound reinforcement systems, troubleshooting, and repair skills.

Ticketing Services Representative

Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep), the city’s largest professional / regional LORT theatre is in search of talented and friendly individuals to staff our multi-venue Box Office. The primary function of the Ticketing Services Representative is to serve as a front-facing ambassador for KCRep, assisting patrons with single ticket and subscription sales via phone, digital, and in-person communications. In addition, the Ticketing Services Representative will support and uplift KCRep’s mission, vision, and values, and demonstrate a dedication to the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-racism (IDEA) work.

Production Overhires

KCRep is looking for skilled trades and craftspeople to hire on a project/hourly basis for our 23-24 season. If you have skills in carpentry, props, costumes, sound, electrics, or experience as a dresser or production assistant (PA), we would like to put you on our overhire list. Assistant and Associate Directors

KCRep is looking for Assistant and Associate Directors. The Assistant Director position is an opportunity for candidates to observe a Directors process.
