Director of Finance + Administration

KCRep is seeking an experienced, savvy, and nimble activator to provide financial and administrative leadership for the organization. The theatre is looking for a financial leader to invest in the theatre’s long-term sustainability, navigate a new era of art consumption, and bolster the theater’s collaborative culture. The Director of Finance and Administration must exercise strong fiscal control in overseeing all accounting, financial reporting and management, and operations and personnel matters. Serving on the Theatre’s leadership team, this position reports to the Executive Director and carries three direct reports on the Finance team.

Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
• Exercising strong fiscal control over the organization
• Hiring and supervising the finance office staff, including IT
• Developing, recommending, and implementing policies on budgeting, cost control, contract negotiation, and financial reporting
• Scheduling and managing the annual budget development and quarterly forecast process
• Preparing monthly financial reports including variance analysis to budget and forecast, supervising month-end accounting cycle, annual audits, and Form 990 preparation
• Liaising with the finance committee of the Board and maintaining relationships with external financial partners
• Directing endowment managers and managing short-term investment strategy
• Ensuring maximum resource utilization within budget guidelines for optimal organizational financial position

Administrative Leadership
• Overseeing HR functions including recruiting, hiring, performance management, policy adherence, and terminations
• Managing facilities and operational concerns
• Identifying and cultivating relationships with individual, corporate, and institutional supports of KCRep

Executive Leadership
• Partnering with the Executive Director on operational, financial, and strategic issues
• Participating in leadership team meetings and engagements, working closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, General Manager, Production Manager, Director of Marketing, and Director of Development
• Leading efforts around diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through hiring processes, organizational policies, and shaping of cultural norm
