POSITION: Development Officer – Corporate & Individual Giving
REPORTS TO: Director of Development

SALARY RANGE: $45,000 – $55,000

Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep) is in search of a Development Officer – Corporate & Individual Giving to facilitate fundraising and grow relationships with new and existing corporate donors while also carrying a smaller individual constituent portfolio and advance the mission of the organization through philanthropy. The primary function of the Development Officer is to facilitate gifts from corporate prospects and individual donors via in person, phone, and online communications, serving as a front- facing ambassador for KCRep. In addition, this position will support and uplift KCRep’s mission, vision, and values, and demonstrate a dedication to the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-racism (IDEA) work. This position has direct impact on KCRep’s reputation among donors, sponsors, and other constituents, as well as impacts the financial and operational performance of the development department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Focus on corporate and individual fundraising and donor relations as well as identifying new prospects.
• Participate in each step of the donor pipeline including identification; qualification through research; cultivation; briefing; request for support; and prompt follow up, stewardship, and recognition.
• Assist with Donor Events to include the annual gala, annual appeals, donor events, and prospect/donor Zoom and online events.
• Corporate Prospects Portfolio (100-125 prospects) and Individual Portfolio (50-100 prospects, $1,500-$9,999 gifts) representing both individual and corporate prospects (total portfolio size 150-200).
Strategy Implementation Responsibilities:
• Develop systems and processes to manage portfolio and create donor strategies, along with materials, to renew and upgrade donor gifts.
• Requirement of at least three (3) significant donor visits per week, 145 to 180 per year.
• Make consistent and measurable progress in moving all portfolio prospects through donor moves management.
• Stewardship of all prospects/gifts/sponsorships from portfolio assignment.
• Reports to Director of Development.
• Assist with annual fundraising and events (Gala, annual appeals, donor events, Zooms).
• Collaborate with the Board Development Committee and facilitate Community Partnerships to enhance relationships and create greater fundraising and outreach possibilities.
• Participate in departmental portfolio review process and be a partner in maintaining an organized system for donor stewardship by updating constituent records, as appropriate.
• Office management –written proposals, emails, benefit fulfillment.
• Pipeline development, working to acquire new donors; keep in regular contact with donors during fundraising events; strong understanding and application of moves management.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the database by ensuring all information is kept current.
• Utilize Tessitura database to identify individuals who have the capacity and propensity to make new and increased gifts.
• Foster a work environment incorporating KCRep values and moves forward the mission of the organization.
• Utilize Tessitura plans to track progress and prospects.
• Perform basic administrative duties such as data entry, maintaining an e-filing system, and more.
• Track progression of donors through moves management.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
• Demonstrated experience, success, and progressive responsibility in fundraising with a minimum of three to five years’ experience.
• Ability to set goals strategically and oversee execution.
• High level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising.
• Proven ability to interact with and influence philanthropic leaders.
• Experience in non-profit and/or performing arts field with work in development desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
• Ability to solve problems efficiently, creatively, and with attention to detail.
• Ability and willingness to always exercise professional courtesy and discretion and maintain confidentiality, ensuring donor privacy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance and/or reliable transportation required for out-of-office travel as required by the position.
• Able to lift 25 lbs., as needed.
• Some evening and weekend availability required.
